How Florida’s Humidity Affects Your AC
True Floridians know that we aren’t just fighting the heat to stay cool – but also the wretchedly humid conditions of the Sunshine State’s sub-tropical climate. Humidity makes the air feel dense, muggy and even soggy. While there is not a lot even our HVAC experts can do about Florida’s outside atmosphere, there is, however, much they can do for your indoor comfort needs!
An external dehumidifier relies on the concept that air loses its ability to retain moisture when it is cooled. Cooling coils meet the humid air inside of a dehumidifier, then releasing moisture through condensation and then blown back out of the device, cool and dry. Home Humidity levels should be between 30 to 50 percent for optimal comfort and protection of home goods. Do you feel that there is excess humidity in your home? The salty air can corrode the aluminum oxide on your air conditioning equipment, leaving you with costly repair bills for a system that is just a few years old. Regular AC maintenance can help to protect against any salt damage or corrosion.
