Packaged HVAC System Services: All-In-One Heating and Cooling Care
A package unit puts your compressor, both coils, the blower, and the controls in one outdoor cabinet. That saves indoor space, and it also means every critical component lives outside in Florida heat, humidity, and storms. A+ Air Conditioning and Refrigeration installs, repairs, and maintains packaged systems with that exposure in mind.

Our Packaged HVAC Services
Packaged systems are easier to access than split systems, but they take the full brunt of the weather. Service reflects both.
Package Unit Repair & Service
Compressor problems, refrigerant leaks at vibration-stressed fittings, coil corrosion, blower and condenser fan failures, and breaker trips. We test the whole cabinet rather than swapping the obvious part.

American Standard packaged systems sized by Manual J, set on a level pad sized for the unit with proper drainage and clearance, and connected with sealed, insulated supply and return transitions.

Both coils cleaned and inspected, refrigerant verified against manufacturer specification, capacitor values measured, contactors checked for pitting, and the condensate drain and cabinet weatherproofing assessed.
Learn More arrow_forwardWhy So Many Gainesville Homes Run on Packaged Systems
A split system needs somewhere indoors to put the air handler: a basement, an attic, or a utility closet. Plenty of homes here were built on slabs with none of the above. A packaged unit solves that by combining everything into a single factory-assembled cabinet, usually set on a concrete pad beside the house, though some are roof-mounted.
The advantages are real. Nothing takes up indoor square footage, installation is simpler, and every serviceable component is reachable in one place instead of split between a condenser outside and an air handler in a cramped attic. Factory assembly also means the unit is tested before it ships.
The tradeoff is exposure. Both coils, the blower, the compressor, and the control board sit outdoors year-round through heat, humidity, salt-tinged air, pollen, and afternoon thunderstorms. That is why A+ Air Conditioning and Refrigeration pays particular attention to cabinet sealing, coil condition, and electrical integrity on these systems.

Three Kinds of Package Unit, Three Different Service Needs
Homeowners often do not know which configuration is sitting beside the house, and it changes what a tune-up should cover. If yours has a gas section, combustion and venting need checking too.
Not Sure Which One You Have?
We can tell from the data plate on the cabinet during the first visit. Send us a photo of it or simply book a service call and we will identify it for you.
Packaged System Configurations
Cooling paired with electric heat strips for the handful of cold nights we get. Straightforward to service, and the heat strips and sequencer relays get tested along with the cooling side.
Cooling and heating from one refrigeration circuit, which suits our mild winters well. Service adds reversing valve and defrost cycle testing, the same checks we run on a ducted heat pump.
Electric cooling with a gas furnace section in the same cabinet. This one carries the same safety obligations as any gas furnace: heat exchanger inspection, gas pressure testing, and flue and venting checks.
Site preparation is where installers cut corners and where problems start. A pad that settles or shifts puts strain on refrigerant connections, interferes with condensate drainage, and introduces vibration that eventually weakens brazed fittings.
An oversized packaged unit short cycles and never runs long enough to pull humidity out of the air, which is why a house can feel clammy at 74 degrees. We run a Manual J load calculation on every installation instead of matching whatever was there before.
Whatever configuration you have, we service packaged units from all major manufacturers, not only the American Standard equipment we install.
What a Packaged System Needs From You
Because the whole system sits outdoors, a few habits go further here than they would on a split system.
Spring is the most important maintenance window here, ahead of the cooling season. A second check in fall catches what a hard summer left behind. Our Comfort Club schedules both for you.
Ductwork, Air Quality, and Other Equipment
On a packaged system the entire duct connection happens at one point on the cabinet, which makes that junction worth inspecting closely. Leaks there dump conditioned air outdoors.
- check_circle Duct cleaning through Envirovac for ductwork carrying years of accumulated debris
- check_circle Whole-home air filtration from Aprilaire and Honeywell, beyond what a one-inch filter captures
- check_circle Owens Corning blown-in insulation to reduce the load the unit carries all summer
- check_circle Mobile and modular homes, where a self-contained packaged unit is frequently the standard setup
- check_circle Commercial rooftop units for businesses running packaged equipment at a larger scale
If your home could support either configuration, we will walk you through packaged versus a conventional split system honestly rather than steering you toward one.
